Ethical tourism in Tha Ton
Different
There are many opportunities for excursions here in Tha Ton. We are different because you choose for yourself what you would like to do every day. We are here to give you good advice, be your guide, and share our love for Tha ton and northern Thailand, its landscapes and its peoples.
Ethical tourism
Apart from the Thais, many ethnic groups live in this border region with Laos and Burma: Karen, Lahu, Lisu, Akha, as well as Chans, refugees from the harsh dictatorship of Burma and do not benefit from Thai nationality.
Thanks to the Chans we have built this tropical paradise.
Along with my wife Nid, we created Old Tree's House to share and help. People who work with us are all Chan Burmese refugees, who do not benefit from Thai Social Security. That is why we set aside part of the profits here to provide for medical expenses for our workers and their families. Another important part of the profits is used to carry out concrete projects in the mountain villages surrounding us.
The aim of our project is to give work to as many disadvantaged people in the region as possible. We are also helping a small Chan school so that the children have the same opportunities as Thai children.
Thanks to the people who have supported us, we have successfully carried out the Chan school project.
We have now started to build a school in Pakoui, a Lahu village, which we hope will help change the lives of the children who live there.
Your journey here to Tha Ton allows us all to do all that. In return, you will also enjoy the comfort and attention we hope you will appreciate.
